A Better Trophy Set for Resident Evil 5

Photobucket

I often think about trophy sets and how good they were after I finish platinuming a particular game. Were the individual trophies good? Did the game have annoying/interesting trophies? Do I feel a sense of accomplishment and was it worth it?

Today, after completing Resident Evil 5 in its entirety (trophies included) for the second time, I could not help but think that the trophy set could have been much better. I have created what I believe is a far more interesting trophy set than what was originally released for the game. I added new trophies, slashed some of the old ones, and changed some of the existing ones. It all surmounts to what I think would add more diversity to the Resident Evil 5 experience. That being said, I did this fairly fast, and I am still uncertain if I want to leave some of the gold trophies that I have added, but as of right now they stand.

As a side note: I am not familiar with how hard trophies are to program into the game so these were made based on the assumption that they can all be programed.

Previous Trophy Set:

Bronze - 38
Silver - 11
Gold - 1
Platinum - 1

External Rewards

Since trophies can be regarded as "external rewards", I thought sharing this intriguing video would be appropriate.

Dante's Inferno

Difficulty: A very easy trophy set to complete. Additionally, it is refreshing to not see any difficulty stipulations in the trophy set, which means you can play through the whole game on the easiest difficulty. The most difficult trophy is completing the Gates of Hell mode, which I was able to finish on my first playthrough, so even then it is not that daunting.

Time: The platinum took approximately 15 hours to complete. A breakdown of the time spent with the game is shown below:

First playthrough: 10 hours
Second playthrough: 4 hours
Gates of Hell: 1 hour

Expect to spend anywhere from 12-18 hours to acquire every trophy.

Tips: Poetry in Motion Trophy: This trophy can be accomplished two ways. The first way is to level your cross to level two allowing you to combo the cross projectile three time. Once this is done you can use the "kill 5 enemies in the air" challenge portion of the game to continuously link cross attacks on enemies for a 666 hit combo. Equipping the relic that increases the time you have in between attacks to continue your combo is also helpful.

The second way to complete this trophy is during your second playthrough. Once you reach the "infinite magic" challenge, change the difficulty level to the highest difficulty (inferno not hellish) and continuously spam the magic cross attack. I have tried to tackle this trophy on the first playthrough by setting it on hellish difficulty, but the max hits I accumulated on two attempts was 633. Therefore, I do not think this method is viable on the first playthrough.

Assassin's Creed 2

Difficulty: An easy game with an easy trophy set will make this platinum a breeze. The most difficult obstacle is completing subject 16's puzzles.

Time: I completed the platinum in approximately 17 hours. Be prepared to spend anywhere from 15-20 hours hunting for the trophies.

Tips: Feathers: Do not pick up any feathers until you have completed the game. This might sound like it is inefficient but it will save you time in the long run. You will not have to remember which feathers you already have picked up, and you can map out a fast run for feathers in any city when all feathers are still in tact. Be prepared to spend around three hours collecting every feather.

Skills: Revisit the training circle a few times during the game because you will need to learn the dust throwing technique and the long weapon technique that are required for two trophies.

Show Your Colors: In addition to every city you will also need to visit the "mountains" area.

Flying Machine: Do not miss the trophy during the flight portion of the game because it is the only trophy that you cannot backtrack to complete.
